It was funded by Gerardo Pombo, who came from a family related to the owners of the local cinemas where the film premiered in 1928.
The sentimental plot also has an element of vindication of Asturian coal in the midst of a certain crisis in the sector. Much of the film takes place in mines belonging to Grupo Mariana, and it also shows some general views of Fábrica de Mieres.
