It holds the Provincial Historical Archives and the Principality of Asturias Historical Archives collections.

Its three hundred collections include over 5,000 boxes of public and private company archives dating as far as back as 1838. Aside from the massive ENSIDESA archives there are also documents from companies such as Fábrica de Tabacos (Tobacco Factory), Fábrica de Loza (Earthenware Factory), UNINSA, HULLASA and others. The archives are located at the old Provincial Jail, in the star-shaped section where the cell blocks used to be.
