La Rebaldana Adit

The Rebaldana adit is located in a space near the Santa Bárbara mine shaft, on the left bank of the Turón river, next to the railway trench that ran through the valley, now converted into a greenway. The company owning all these facilities was Sociedad Hulleras del Turón.

The adit was the entrance to the first of the seven floors of the San Pedro mining group, one of the first to be exploited by Sociedad Hulleras de Turón (SHT), together with San Víctor and Santo Tomás. These occupied an area of 5,130 hectares and reached an annual production of 130,000 tonnes of coal in the early years of the 20th century.

Throughout 2013 and 2014, the Santa Bárbara Mining and Cultural Association carried out several works to restore the mine shaft. The primitive façade and 15 metres of gallery were restored, along which the three types of reinforcement of these spaces were reproduced: solid brickwork, traditional wooden trench shoring and the metal frame supporting system, a more modern one.
